Teacher–parent relationship

The relationship between parent and teacher is based on mutual respect and an awareness of each other's importance: the teacher recognizes the parent's support, and the parent appreciates the teacher’s involvement in their child’s development.

It is important for the parent and the educator to do everything possible to find common ground between the child’s needs and their resources. The educator becomes very important to the child due to the time they spend together at kindergarten. Mother and father are fundamental references, the first figures in a child’s life, and often remain so throughout life; however, the educational reference also appears—the “Miss,” as children call her—whom they often grow fond of and whose words become extremely important.

Thus, the relationship between parent and teacher should be presented as a strictly educational collaboration centered around the child, based on respect and mutual exchange of information and opinions. It is also important for parents and the teacher to collaborate and support each other in a relationship where each recognizes the importance of the other's role in the child’s life.
